Need help to make my first character more appealing!!

Hey there! 
i recently just created this character in maya.
Since its my first try at making characters i dont have much insight into it... could you guys help me make it more appealing!! 
Your thoughts on it will be much appreciated

Ps:  i do intend to apply hair and fur to it, but only after the mesh is finalized.

Here's a little character description: 
Name: Zora 
Age: Ancient (unknown) 
Zora is a mammoth king who was in a deep slumber since the ancient time, and since its 2019 the world has been changed and his species has been extinct, and he believes the humans are responsible for it, so now he seeks vengeance!!

I think starting with simple anatomy sculpting will go along way.  I would also try to mix human and elephant anatomy to possibly get it more interesting.  Personally, I'm not a fan of just throwing an animal head on a human body...it's a bit boring.

i get what you mean... I'll try and add more anatomy of the mammoth... and see how it goes.. thanks!

I would emphasize it feels odd the eyes are positioned like a human's instead of a mammoth's.
