Maya Freeze/Unfreeze Modelling toolkit Help

I've spotted the freeze/unfreeze button under the object drop down in the modelling toolkit. I would like to start using it more. Can anyone help me with figuring out how I can either give that a keybind or how to write a script that activates that functionality instead? (I'm not good at writing scripts myself) As far as I can find it is no where in the hotkey editor and is not in any marking menus. Great function but it slows the process down quite a bit to pull up the model kit and go under the drop down menu. Thanks!
