toggle turbosmooth 3ds max hot keys

So I am trying to set a hot key to toggle Turbosmooth on and off and I followed some info from another site that said to set it to "show end result" so I assign  Ctrl + g to "show end result" and test it, nothing happens. I then realize they are saying set it to "toggle show end result" which I cant find in the customize UI menu to set. Does any one know what I am doing wrong?

Show end result is correct. There are 2 on the list, assign to the second one. Hotkeys>all commands>show end result

so let see if I understand : assign my Ctrl + g to the second "show end result" and then what ? Because that I did but there is clearly a step i am missing.

You have to have something above your Editable Poly in the stack. So give your mesh a turbosmooth, then go down to editable poly (bottom of the stack) and hit your hotkey. Might work without a multiple-key hotkey (try one button instead of ctrl+g)

Once you're in the stack it'll work. Mine is set to ctrl+shift+A, so modifier keys are fine.

okay if all else fails would it be impolite or  rude of me to ask one of you to make a video for setting up the hot key?

yes and never mind, I am not sure how but I literally just got it working about 30 seconds ago, on a side note is there any thing else you wold recommend me to hot key while I am at it?

Good stuff. I have found in the padt that the odd time setting a hotkey might behave like that, but thankfully Max 2020 has a brand new hotkey editor.

As for what to hotkey......that's a looong list. I have practically everything hotkeyed. That and I make heavy use if the quad menus. For hotkeys though, I use the Keyhydra plugin.

But, for starters you should hotkey Show Cage, Collapse to EPoly, and go to bottom of the stack. Those 4 alone(inc. Show end result)will really speed up your modeling workflow. That last is a script. There are a few around. Search Scriptspot.

Will do so thanks, I am trying to shovel feed my self skill and knowledge in the spare time I can find before my fall semester,
so I can get good fast and knowing what to hot key to make me faster is going to be instrumental
