Cloth design and characters for ue4

I am trying to wrap my head around the workflow when it comes to a variety of cloths a character uses and the pipeline, in relation to animation. If I make something fairly simple in marvelous designer, it can get skinned to the actual character bones, the way I see it. But how is this when the cloths get more intricate? Do you rig extra bones or is there a physics system in ue4 one uses?

Is there any good tutorials on cloth animation for characters with UE4. I have been searching, but I cannot seem to find any good clear guidelines on it.
