Hmm. I'm not sure how to feel about the resolution of the pixel art. I think it may be so high that you've landed yourself in an uncomfortable in-between zone, like it's trying to be two things at once. Maybe I would feel differently if I were actually playing it, though.
The environment art is quite good! I think your muted palette and attention to lighting has produced a pleasant result. Well done.
There's an antialiasing blurriness on some parts that make it looks like an upscaled jpgish picture. I think it woud benefit of beeing sharper imo. I like the atmosphere tho, and there's definitly something nice to be done with pixel art and realistic lighting.
Just echoing what others have said, the environment is beautiful and the lighting is spot on.
Overall, I feel many of the props are too blurry around the edges to be satisfying pixel art for me. (most notable offenders are the graffiti on the wall and the character). I think if you could find a way to clean up those edges, it'll help the pixel art feel and make it easier on the eyes. I wish I could play it because even at 1440p, YouTube enjoys destroying any fine detail in an image like this.
The computers, books, and furniture all look fantastic! This is an interesting idea and I definitely think it's got some potential
I like the style very much! I could be even more PIxelated im my opinion. The lightning is very beautiful, but its look kinda strange where the shadows are, it's like they are above everything like a foil and they cut very hard like its a obvious Image layer.
What also looks a bit strange is that the walk cycle is running but he does not moove, like when he goes somewhere behind. Maybe some tuning required.
Completely honest....just doesn't work. Reading the explanations given for pursuing this style appear to indicate more of a drive to do something "different" than a focus on the game/visual experience the player wants to have. Every bit of this just looks like low-res unsuccessfully being scaled up as opposed to being inspired from pixel art. Pixel art is a style but higher res with the jaggies isn't and feels like it's ultimately taking away from what would otherwise be a good game to play. The environments look intriguing and add much to the game experience so hopefully the full potential of this title gets an opportunity to shine instead of being a missed gem constrained by the desire to look different.
