hey! guys,
my team and I have this 3D animation project called "I MISS YOU" going on right now. and the work is still in progress.
I've drawn some concepts or you can say cinematic moment first for our interior and mood as reference.
As for the story, it's about like this. There's a guy who is a marble sculptor and lost his wife few years ago. the one last thing he wants to do before moving on is to see her face for one last time. He did it in the end by sculpting actually.
and we already found some reference for our main character below the concepts.
We're just about to make all these into 3D which is the main reason I'm here. I am totally a 3D rookie. And I might have a lot of problem during the production.
Hopefully, I can update the thread every week at least.
The goal in this thread is to finish a single frame render with complete lighting, texture, interior, and character(just one).

By the way, we decide to simulate the movement of our clothes here in marvelous designer(after the rigging of course), once the simulation is recorded, we will be able to export it to Maya as an Alembic file.
the base material of our clothes
And these are some references that we've found below.
We also want some volumetric lights in the scene, but I've no idea how to do that for now Lol.
anyway, that's the update for today, any critiques and suggestions are welcome.

the references:
All the texture set were painted in substance painter and the hair are generated in xgen.
oh! dame, now I see some problems with his teeth. um... perhaps it's just the light that makes the teeth symmetrical.
I added some marble powder or dirt on some part of his hand randomly, the guy is a sculptor after all.
and yes, I didn't give him the fingernails and I'm not sure it's a good idea or not...
we decide to use substance designer to do most of the texture in our scene. The procedural workflow really gives us a lot of flexibility which is awesome!!!
here's some blocking of our scene, the windows without texture.
the windows with texture:
and the desk
I learned how to make the texture of the plaster wall and wood planks from here:
https://gumroad.com/dete
https://academy.substance3d.com/courses/material-series-aged-wood-planks/youtube-vLz8ZyduQi0
and I made the windows myself.
So that's it for today and if you are interested in my windows substance graph or have a suggestion for me just leave the comment!
I kinda worry about the sound cause we still haven't found our voice actor, is there any other way we can cast the sound online or I'm being naive?

I also changed Crag's hair style a bit and did some walking test with clothes simulated
expression testing
interior
and interior light testing.
I have to say I am not good at lighting, and I really want to know how to light an interior scene. so if you guys happen to know some tutorials on youtube please leave the link.
