[Maya] - Transferring UV's causes broken seams

Hey,  I'm having a slight problem with transferring my UV's from an old mesh to an updated one.  I (foolishly) deleted 2 edge loops on my mesh by freezing the subdivs, deleting the loops in zmodeller then unfreezing the subdivs - completely forgetting that I loose my UV's.  I then made a few small changes to the mesh.

I thought I would be able to transfer my old UV's onto my new mesh as they're identical apart from having 2 edge loops missing on the new one.  However when I transfer my UVs in Maya, everything works fine on the uv seam positions for the whole mesh etc but the seams are all messed up inside the nostils.  Wondering if theres anything I'm doing wrong or if this can be fixed.  I wanted to preserve the original UVs as I wanted to add the updated version in Mari. Any advice?
