I'm looking for a mouse with a soft middle click as I use that a lot with maya, unfortunately in quite a few I tried its really stiff and takes a bit of effort to press, I was wondering if you guys have any recommendations?
i use logitech g502 and map the side thumb button to middle click. Much more ergonomic. two side buttons i set to ctrl and ctrl shift, so almost all marking menus are accessed with mouse only.
thanks Guys, I guess I could try get used to another button but as the zoom is on the wheel ideally I'd wanna keep the navigation there. hopefully with some more recommentations and I can do some research, the Zowie seems interesting I'm getting some mixed reviews about the Gigabyte M6980X being hard to press
I used a4tech G11-570FX rechargeable mouse more than8 years. still working but its life seems come to end.. mouse maybe out of production nowadays.
and middle mouse button is the softest one and rival 310 is one of the softest one. mx master 3 is expensive and I don't recommend if you are looking for soft middle click as a maya user.
G11-570FX (using more than 8 years just reason is soft middle click) warning! that needs a recharge every week. maybe upper versions have longer de charge life. I replaced its recharable battery once.
rival 310 is good soft middle click. I love it. I will continue using it albeit I am not a gamer
I sent logi master mx 3 back to store. good mouse indeed.. but what we are looking for is softness of middle click. I cannot use maya without that softness, since 1998.
Try a mouse with side buttons and map middle mouse to that? Shouldn't take long to adjust to and no more hunting for certain models required. Don't get stuck with a preference for some out of production model that just happens to have the magic button feel.
I have never been a fan of the mouse wheel. I found and have been using the Logitech T400 for many years now. I don't know if they still make it, but you can still pick up refurbished models.

I saw several G11 mouses on A4Tech website. http://a4tech.com/products.aspx?id=3
What exactly is your mouse?
if you buy anything from 3D connexion just make sure it is not wireless
