Not had anytime to do anything since the birth of my daughter but here's some shapes I threw together. Looks kind of cool but I might just scale back my work and make some better modular pieces. I like how the pipes are integrated into the ceiling so I might run with that. I'll try and make some pieces that look like they fit together - not just some shapes thrown together.
@SelwynPhillips your work reminds me so much of the inside of my Honda CR-Z! I would love to see an interior designer use your models to inspire some apartment style interiors or house interiors, especially on the sample panels.

Thanks. I definitely didn't use that as inspiration but perhaps I'll take a look and see what I can get from it. At the moment I'm simply just throwing some shapes together to create and interesting design.
I'm working on another door. I'm liking the overall shape but some of parts don't make sense now that it opens upwards. Some light that turn on underneath should look cool
very cool looking door but it feels like the hinge is a bit weak/small for it. Or maybe its made of titanium so no worries then Anyway cool stuff!
I know what you mean. There does seem to be a bit of an imbalance as it stands. I imagined it would be cast lightweight metal and not solid as that would make it super heavy.
Thanks for the kind words. I see you have some nice hard surface work on your Artstation. Good Job
Hard Surface Rulez How do you approach the design? Do you get inspiration looking for reference? Also does this Sketch involve a bigger project?
Honestly at the moment I'm just winging it. I'm simply throwing some shapes together and seeing what happens (with the help of reference of course). Due to having a newborn to look after I can't really invest much time in a bigger project so I decided I would start a sketchbook and just work on some smaller pieces for fun. The main goal is to do something small and acheiveable with the aim of learning something new. I'm focusing on hard surface/sci-fi stuff so perhaps I'll make enough material where I could assemble a small scene with them.
For reference I'm using pinterest. At the moment I'm gathering images of various industrial and sci-fi doors as inspiration. Also looking at the work of Tor Frick and Paul Peppera helps - although it can be equally motivating and depressing seeing how far behind my work is compared to theirs lol.
Now that the baby has started sleeping through the night I find myself with a little extra time in the evenings to throw some sci-fi shapes together. This is what I have so far.
I thought I would finally give Blender a shot. Of course, a good starting point would be Blender Guru's Chair tutorial.
Although I'm a Blender noob, I found that transititioning from Max to Blender not too much of a headache as I can set it up to behave very similar to Max. I'm still not very confident in Blender but I might stick to it for a while.

A quick paint over on how I might improve the scifi door
I have set up a 'screenshot scene' to put my sci-fi doodles in. Here's the result...
The hinge section is looking more interesting now. Still struggling with the side section though.

Ceiling finished, lighting slightly adjusted and some colour correction to wrap it all up.

Blender progress is slow so far. Plenty of cool features that look really promising though.
My first Blender project based on an image I found in a home improvement magazine. Rendered in UE4
