[Private messages] ~ How much should I trust people messaging me and asking for e-mail exchanges?

I've received a message from an unknown person here on PolyCount, nobody I know.
This person asked me to contact them on their personal e-mail address.

I've encountered this kind of events on other forums too, but usually they're scammers of some kind and trusting them with even just a greeting can be harmful.
Is this something that happens on PolyCount too? Is this part of the "seasonal rain of scammers" that nearly all networks undergo from time to time?

Yea what big time said pretty much. Just respond with something like hey man we can talk here that's easier for me if their against that for some reason just ignore them

Thanks for the heads-up, although the message alone should've been enough to discourage me: they claim they're from the USA, but I cant imagine such a bad grammar not even with the infamous american public education system as their background. ^^'

I would either ignore it or just prefer to keep it on Polycount. That or, just ask if it's for a gig or not. And even then, if it's through a personal email address, it might not even be for a gig lol. It might just be a spammer.

If it's about United Nations Peacekeeping, it's spam. 

It helps to copy/paste the message into a web search, if you get results like this, you'll know to avoid them.
