Hey everyone!
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/nQ6491I wanted to create a decent brick wall material in Substance Designer to practice two things: height blending and mortar creation, since I wasn't feeling comfortable with both. I used a lot of nodes to get this one done: from Tile Sampler to Flood nodes in order to get the result I wanted in a correct way.
I ended up creating a mortar generator along with a brick generator for this one to optimize the graph and make it more readable.
The mortar falling apart might not be appealing to everyone but I quite like it myself and that's what it matters when it comes to personal studies/projects.
The color variations came from Color Gradient nodes along with masks to choose which pricks get the desired colors. It was a fun training. 100% fully procedural Substance Designer material, all in 4K resolution.
Please check my artstation post for more high res renders.
Cheers!

Yeah I understand that the mortar can be a bit weird and I agree I went a bit too far with it. It's the first time I've done it and this messy result made me smile so decided to keep it that way.
Thanks again!
