With all the failed attempts and defunct/discontinued products for game streaming, I thought Cloud Gaming was gone for a while...
Google thinks otherwise..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4SOS-a4ks7sAs of now, I can't speculate on the success of that thing...
Its a wait and see for me.

Also I have heard some theories (nothing official but interesting thoughts non the less) that the Stadia will be free, but that there will be ads in game and such. I feel sorry for the next gen consoles though, this is a lot of competition out of the blue.
There seems to be many roadblocks to how well this gets implemented across the user base. The lack of net neutrality here in the US means this service gets throttled unless you are with the carrier that supports Google. How far you are away from the data center has to impact your gameplay experience.
If this takes off, I fear I may never leave the toilet.
I am already at the phase where I mainly buy digital because I hate getting up to swap discs, my behavior is literally adapting to easy of use and lack of friction. I dont care about owning physical media that takes up space and can only be accessed on one device. I already have the habit of watching netflix, then picking up my phone and switching to the app when i go hit the can and continue watching seamlessly.
tbh games seem pretty far behind in terms of disruption like the way netflix destroyed the cable and video rental industries. The big 3 have fallen into their groove of console cycles, this looks to shake that up. I cant wait for the day where i dont have to wait for a patch or god damn system update every 2 times i turn my console on. I will easily put up with a few growing pains with this type of tech if it eliminates that stuff.
everyone always argues "what will you do when your internet goes down!?".....while they are commenting on a live stream or watching netflix etc and surfing on their phone. I don't think I have experienced a major internet outage in the last 3-4 years. and internet infrastructure is only going to get way better over the next decade.
I'm pretty all in on this if it works even half decently, it seems like a no brainer for a large step forward in our industry. looking at things as platform specific seems kinda dumb, like why limit your market share based on owning a specific box. If everyone could buy uncharted and play it on whatever subscription service they have..wouldn't that make sony more money as they generally lose money on hardware and make it up on software? why not just cut out the loss section of their business model :P
Just because most of us have decent internet, we're not even close to the general public. Get outside of any major city in the US and internet can be hit and miss or you are stuck with just one provider.
I think this whole thing of google stadia won't work at all like all the previous attemps of other companies. It's just my thought.

As for the Internet thing, most people I know have enough trouble already streaming 4k videos on Youtube...so streaming a Next Gen AAA title seems even more of a ridiculous stretch.
I understand the idea of making ''Gaming Netflix'' but games are a set of very complex softwares coded and designed to work along data-heavy assets...Videos are mostly image data coded to be in sync with an audio file...
It feels like a ''Too early, too soon'' type of move...
4K HDR TVs is what almost all people owns in my neighborhood. We can buy a 50" 4K TV with HDR for less than 500€. Much cheaper than a decent PC monitor like mine. With what i paid for my monitor i could have bought a 65" 4K TV with real HDR. Furthermore, a few friends of mine owns a 4k ready Nvidia Shield https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/shield/. It offers a good streaming but using the lan, though. And we have a lot of 8k TVs on market right now, from Samsung, Panasonic, Lg, etc.
In Google they may be thinking in the future. In 2 years or less, 8k TVs will be for less than 1000€ for sure. 4K TVs were very expensive 2 years ago, but right now.. bufff! it's the contrary. In fact, 1080p TVs are very uncommon to see in our retail shops (it's tech of the past).
And about codecs, we already have codecs for 8k, AV1 for example. Check out this link:

I also think it's "too early", but with 5G it might be a reality.
"Harrison reiterated similar numbers that he has mentioned before about Stadia internet speed requirements, specifically telling me that players will need "roughly" 30 megabits per second internet speed for 4K/60 frames per second streaming, while 1080p streaming will require "significantly less than that."
So not very demanding at all I think.
Foundys Atherea is one of them.

Sad to say it looks like it's on its way out.
