Back at it again with a head bust. I came across Joy Ang's work forever ago and saved this particular piece as something that I thought would be fun to sculpt.
Progress so far! Been trying to nail down the eye shapes and lips right now. I'm happy with how it's turning out so far. The hair is just a placeholder for now.
Been working on her pose and face. Still not confident in how the eyes are looking in the 3/4 and side view. Kinda feels like her eyes are bulging. Need to play around with placement.
Tweaked the face since the last post. Pushed in the eye and lid farther into the socket. I think it keeps the look still similar to the concept. Made some mouth, nose and cheek adjustments.
Would love any feedback on the face as I start to tackle the hair.
Looking pretty nice! The camera angle looks great, it looks like you nailed the concept piece. But when you turn the model to face the front of the torso, the anatomy begins to fall apart in the neck. There is no indication of a twist in the neck muscles. It looks like her neck is snapped haha
@bkost Thanks for the feedback! Yeah now looking at reference it feels like her head is way too far back and the lack of neck muscles really do make it look like its snapped haha. I'll be sure to apply some changes.
Applied some adjustments to the neck to suggest a twist in the neck. Tried not to go too overboard due to the stylization of the piece. Made some more face adjustments as well. Gonna tweak a couple more things and f i n a l l y tackle the hair.
Back again (much later) with a little bit of a hair update. I'm mostly happy with how it looks from the front at the moment but not loving the sides and back. Been hard to me to guess the hair flow based on the concept. Would love any thoughts or tips that may help!
Wow it's been a while. Work and life got a little crazy there while working on this so I didn't think to post much! But she's as done as I could get her to be.
Learned a ton on this one! But I am very ready to move onto something new haha.
