We would need more info to answer that question. How much budget do you have? How big is the team.? How long do you plan to work on the Project.? What Artstyle.? ?
TL;DR: There's no "best 3D software" Blender is good for starting out. On film production, people use Maya and 3DS Max as 3D packages, and ZBrush for sculpting, which is also a pretty important software.
Oh man! I remember playing with that in middle school. That's top quality right there.
I tried this software when i was 14 or 15. Could´t even create a simple mesh. And we had no internet at home, so i had to read about the software at school.
The best software is the one that you like the most and that best suits your needs. There are some softwares that do some things better than others but in general they all have what you need to model, render etc. I use Maya.
If you want to know what softwares should you learn to get a job in a VFX studio for film than: Maya and Zbrush for modeling or Houdini for FX + video editing and compositing softwares like Nuke and DaVinci Resolve + Mari for textures + Arnold or Renderman for rendering but you can simply take a look at the career page of any company for the role that you want.
