Maya script: extract faces to single object

Hi,

I am looking for script, which would allow me to extract faces to new object (separate on) WITHOUT splitting/detaching those faces into multiple objects, just keep it as one.

Then, ideally, keep those extracted faces in the same outliner group and selected (selected only in order to combine if they would be still split into multiple objects). And having pivot left from object it was extracted from.


Sounds like a lot, but in 3ds max all of this is by default while detaching to new object.
