ZBrush Brushes not working

Hey guys
I couldn't find any answers that could help me, so i hope someone know how to fix this. Basically my brushes don't work. I can't click on them, they are kinda greyed out i guess. I inserted a screenshot so you can see what i mean.

are you in "edit" mode? (press t)

ok first of all thanks for your help! Now I can click on the brush but it doesn't work when i want to use it...

you've got to provide more information than this. put us in your chair -- recount all the details. screenshots help. You can insert screenshots directly into the post. Use the search function to find information about how to do that.
