Hi there! Here's my latest work, a procedural palace ceiling material made entirely in Substance Designer and rendered in Marmoset. It's based on a 16th century ceiling from "Palau de la Generalitat" located in Valencia, Spain. The aim of the project was to get a better understanding of shape creation methods inside Designer and to push creativity to achieve specific forms. Thanks for watching!
How long did this take roughly? Must of been a while for sure, amazing job!
@Snweos it took me around 3 weeks, including reference gathering and final presentation. I made this project for studying purposes so there was a lot of eye-training excercise and try/error phases during the whole process which altered the time span big time. Thank you for your comment, glad you like it!
could you share with us some examples of how you build up the shapes and blend them and what nodes? a couple a screen shots would explain a lot.
@oraeles77 All forms started from circle, square, polygon or gradient nodes. Some of the nodes I used the most were Transform2D, Directional Warp, Mirror, Bevel, Curve, Blur HQ, Non-directional Blur, Histogram Scan, Histogram Range and Blend. Hope to make a video breakdown in the near future showing the whole process!
