Stratosphere Games is looking for a Backend Engineer
Stratosphere Games, a mobile game studio focusing on core mobile games in Berlin, is looking for a Backend Engineer to help build and maintain the technology needed to power the components which enable our games to perform as designed.
You will be part of an enthusiastic, dedicated, young team experienced in mobile game development.
Responsibilities
Implement and maintain server infrastructure for gameplay features
Produce clean, well-documented, well-managed code
Support and improve the live service
Architect features to improve server reliability, performance and uptime
Work side-by-side with QA, design, production and other specialists to tackle some of our most complex problems
Perform research to acquire new knowledge necessary to perform tasks and maintain a process of technological evolution
Requirements
Experience with building RESTful APIs
Extensive networking experience
Knowledge of network and server security issues
A minimum of 3+ years’ relevant work experience
Experience with client-server architectures, network security, basic network protocols (e.g. TCP/IP and UDP), concurrency, load scaling considerations, object replication, as well as time synchronization and prediction
Experience with scripting languages (i.e. Javascript, Lua, Python)
Expert level proficiency with OOP languages (i.e. c++, c#, Java)
Excellent communications skills
Either German or English fluently
Plus
A degree in computer science, or a related field
Experience with transaction processing systems
Database experience (Relational or NoSQL)
Experience in high-performance/distributed key-value stores
Previous experience mentoring software engineers
Experience with cloud services such as AWS/Azure/Google Cloud
Experience with Test Driven Development
Experience with Unix flavored O/S
Experience with troubleshooting and debugging tools such as Fiddler, Wireshark Chrome DevTools, etc.
Experience with BaaS (Backend as a service) such as Playfab, Gamesparks
