[Blender 2.8] How does Instancing/DupliFaces work? (Bug)

I just couldn't get it to work. I have parented a smaller cube onto a larger cube, but with Instancing set to Faces/Verts, nothing is happening.
(DupliFaces has been renamed to Instancing, I couldn't a tutorial on whether the way it works has changed.)
never mind, Blender 2.8 was acting up, I posted this thread, switch back to Blender, and it suddenly behaves. This must be a bug, basically the Instancing doesn't kick in immediately... Also note that the Instancing options need to be set on the Parent object, not the Child object.
