What, if the high poly looks out?

Hello,

i want to ask, if it is a problem, when the High Poly is looking out the retopology? The are some areas, where it looks like, the high poly parts are looking out the retopology. And even if not, would that be a problem? What would happen, when we bake the normal map?

If you are using a Cage, or a proper Ray Distance value, there shouldn't be any problem, in your case there's a very minimal divergence.

Low poly will always do that. You dont have enough vertices in the area to adapt to the original shape. In this case this wont cause issues with most default settings on bakers.

usually that is how you would want it to be. just riding the line between all the way in or all the way out. This is as close and you can match, most of the tiem.

Thank you guys for the fast answers! But when something is looking out, does the normal map fix that? I mean, will the normal map project the part that looks out too? Or only the parts that are INSIDE of the mesh?

that's what the ray distance settings and/or a cage manages. as mentioned, most default settings will be fine for your meshes there.

first, just do a bake. so you can see. then go to the wiki and read everything there. it will make more sense if you have done a little trial and error baking first.
