Creating LODs for mesh with morph targets

Hello guys.

I´ve got a problem and hope you can help me again.
I got a skeletal mesh in Unreal and it has morph targets (it is a car with damage states as morph targets). I want to create proper LODs for the mesh and do that by exporting the mesh and creating the LODs in Max. Adding the new meshes (LODs) as actual LODs in Unreal seems to work- the LODs work, but the morph targets don´t. They still do deform the LOD meshes, but not in the way they deform LOD zero. LOD0 still works fine with added LODs, but the LODs` deformation is very messy.

I tried exporting the original mesh and keep its morph targets, but I cannot get that working. All I can export is the single mesh (as a skeletal) and import it in Max as a skelelal. But the morph targets get lost.

All I want to do is create LODs for a skeletal mesh that has morph targets and have these morph targets work properly on the created LODs.
I hope you can help me here and give me some insight on how to approach this.

Thanks : )

EDIT: I do NOT have the original source files
