Maya scale, rotate and move tool are not behaving like they should... Please help!

Hi, my name is Nortonm. I'm a student here in Sweden and i'm studying 3D modelling. I know most of the basics in Maya and now in my latest asignment I ran into a pretty big problem... my move, scale and rotate tool started to not work like they normaly do. 
My teacher says its do to that text close to the mouse while im hovering around the pivot that says "slide". The only problem is that they dont know how to get rid of it....
I have tried to push the reset button in all of the tools and nothing changed.

Please i really need the help to solve my problem.

uncheck any boxes in the transform constraints marking menu  Looks like you have edge slide enabled.

resetting the tool should take care of that though.

Youve already tried clicking that Transform Constraint dropdown and turning it off, right?
If that didn't help, then delete your prefs folder

not sure about it being a bug. The tranform constraints I don't believe are associated with the move/scale/rotate tools directly. I think they are connect to the selection tool, even though they work across the board with many tools. So perhaps resetting the selection tool ( 'Q' key)  would reset those transform constraints. Just guessing though. 

I found the answer pretty fast just by googling "maya vertex slide" and then testing in maya to make sure that worked. The more little issues like this you face the faster you'll get at doing detective work so you can keep the ball rolling.
