I would like to see more attention paid to materials, and how they're different. If I was a modeler trying to turn these into 3D, it would be difficult to figure out what materials to use. Leather, cotton, velvet, burlap, feathers?
Some concept artists will use callouts to indicate surface types, often with smaller tighter renderings nearby. That can save time and effort, and communicates well.
Rarely speak on the stuff I draw but I feel that it will help in the process. This was a hard piece work on. I went from color and rendering down to simple flat color and almost went to line art. I found that there are some pieces that one may struggle with and that the best option is to just do your best and move on. Jake Parker said 'Finished not perfect'. Sometimes its good to just let it do so that one can move on. I can't tell you how much this one piece made me stop from creating more stuff, created frustration were there need not be. I'm glad I came to this decision, although it took forever, I'm glad.
@OsiSteven My wife absolutely loves this one, and it reminds me of her a bit. She works at a therapy stable where they help kids with TBI & Autism through the use of horses. The stirups and the harness and mask combine really well with the organic machine style animal you have here!
P.S. I like the cape on your character would look really need with some pattern that ties in with the horses head or a tribal style design.
@Voxelope thanks man I just saw this and it made my day. Just like you and your wife I actually work with kids with autism so that really made me smile. I also plan on putting a pattern on the cape but later on in the story this is just a default/starter cape XD.

Just some fighting exploration sketches... nothing serious regarding the story here... nothing serious
