What kind of roles are you aiming for? Games, film?

Your portfolio is unfocused to one discipline which is very common in games, if that's what you're aiming for. Either choose characters, environments, or concepts, and strip out the rest that isn't what you want to specialize in.

Yeah that is kinda the problem. I mostly worked in commercial so far but I can do both. The last two companies were VR studios. Where I worked on some oculus titles.

The thing is, in the last company I was hired to be a modeler but they didn't had enough work for me. So I was doing everything except modeling. That kinda got me frustrated because I just want to focus on modeling and be creative and become better in that. So my plans are to focus on games. Because there is more modeling work to be done. But as you see, my portfolio is all over the place. I'm afraid instead being a good candidate, they will see me as a "jack of all trades, master of none".

My real passion is in making 3D illustrations. But I know that's out of my league for now and they are more plans for in the future. For now I wanna get into a game company that has enough modeling work for me and where I can become a better 3D artist.

If you're aiming for games I'd try and focus it as much to the games pipeline as you can. The Zen garden scene is cool, it shows you can do games scenes. It would be nice to see some breakdowns of assets, wireframes, texture sheets etc to show you can optimise for games.

Like xChris said, cut it down to your best pieces that show your specialism. At the moment it feels a bit cluttered and its hard to get an idea of what you are. Ideally you should be able to open your portfolio and see exactly what you're applying for and what you specialise in.

I think its really easy for people trying to break in, to try and generalize their portfolio, and take up any 3d work that comes your way. I think if you cut the excess out, work on a few new pieces for a few months with a focus on 3d concepts, that'll look way better than 85% of people who are trying to break in. A few months of persistence and concentration goes a long way, and there are a lot of resources/tutorials out that is all about what you want to do. Your portfolio is only as good as your worst piece, so start today!

Edit: Here's a course that sounds like what you'd be into https://www.learnsquared.com/courses/world-building

No shame in having a part time job outside of the game industry while you study and sharpen your sword, we all start out that way!
