I've started to learn rigging. I've gone through a couple of different tutorials. The official one on Autodesk. Paul Neale's seminar on it, and George Maestri.
Especially when it comes to the arms and hands, they do it slightly different when it comes to the view they draw them in. George draws arms in from the front view, and hands from the top view. The official one draws arms from top view and fingers from front view (except thumb). And so on. I'm trying to internalize what difference this would make, so if anyone can explain the importance or why choose to draw them in either top or front view, I would appreciate it.

I imagine that later on in the videos they're constraining everything to point helpers etc. - the orientation of those is what will affect user interaction.
If in doubt though - do what Paul neale does
