Hello! I'm a first year 3D Modeling and Animation student at the University of Hertfordshire and I'm really excited to join Polycount! I've been told really good things about this site by friends so I'm confident I'll learn a lot from you all.
I'll share the results of my first three months at university and the things I'm currently working on. I'd love some critique for my next works.
I'll update the renders with better resolution as soon as I get back to my pc in the UK.
Also, I'm sorry in advance if I posted this in the wrong section or with the wrong format.

All the models have been made in Maya 2018 and textured on the latest version of Substance Painter.

Shark looks solid. Could use more postprocessing to really place it in the water. Right now it reads like a plastic model being lit.
I disagree with the design of the tie interceptor, but it looks decent. Could have used more designing.
Sabacc table looks good. Too grainy from the renderer, you need to figure out how to remove it. I'm not buying the purpose nor the construction of the panels that sit atop the seats.
Yeah, we had very limited options for our first 3D brief since they requested us to model a shark, a pod racer and a table.
As for the shark I totally agree, it definitely could use a lot more to make it realistic. Due to deadlines, I couldn't push it too much but I'll definitely look more into comping with Nuke and try to improve the quality.
The starfighter was an adaptation of Yoda's fighter with the same colors as the Republic fighters.
By designing you mean more texture like wear and tear effects or more details in the actual model?
Yeah I couldn't render the table on my PC so had to go with what I can do at home, will update it with a proper render asap. I didn't know a better way to model those panels on top of the seats so I made them as separate objects and just shrink wrapped them around the seat shape.
Still have a long way to go of course!
