Failed to import low poly mesh (from Maya)


I've tried to import a low poly mesh from maya after uv unrwrapping it, and converting it to a .fbx file.

these errors appear:

[Project management] Save successfull
[Scene 3D] [FBX] : Mesh normals are invalid (some values are null) and will be recomputed
[Scene 3D] [FBX] : Mesh normals are invalid (some values are null) and will be recomputed

[Scene 3D] Failed to triangulate polygon (no ear found). Probably not a simple polygon?
[Scene 3D] Failed to compute tangents; need UV data in channel0
[Paint editor] Invalid scene, mesh 'pasted__pCube11' has no UV coordinates
[Paint editor] Invalid scene, mesh 'pasted__pCube11' has no UV coordinates

And the low poly mesh does not appear in the substance painter workspace.

I'm planning on baking this maya scene, so I gotta import the high poly too.

Does anyone know what to do? Or want to skype to please help me sort the issue out?
This is a Uni assignment and I gotta get it in asap, so help would be super duper appreciated! ^^

    your mesh needs fixing. 

    the errors are pretty explicit

    the mesh's normals are buggered, the mesh itself is buggered and you're missing some or all of the UV data required. 

    Since this is maya these things are to be expected and you simply need to perform a short ritual. 

    for the normals/geometry issues:
    delete history
    freeze transforms
    perform a mesh cleanup - ticking pretty much every box
    delete history
    unlock normals
    set all normals to hard edges
    set up hard/soft normals again
    face north
    turn round three times
    stand one one leg
    delete history again

    for the UVs:
    make sure you have UVs
    make sure they're all in the same channel
    if not, fix the above.
    delete any extra channels
    delete history
    face west, 
    close one eye and stick out your tongue,
    delete history again

    if it still doesn't work...
    sacrifice your first born child,
    reimport the fbx - it will have 'handled' some of the shite maya let you create
    check carefully for unwelded verts, split UVs etc.  clean it all up
    delete history
    export that. 


    some steps may be unnecessary
