Latest progress shot
So I wanted to do a shorter project and remembered I saw a really cool portrait by Taylor Lee not that long ago.
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/84A8wSo I decided to turn it into a gameres bust and also give a try to a curves to hair cards method so wonderfully described by Vincent Ménier.
Here's what I've got so far. Started from a sphere and did some base shapes and then started working without symmetry.
There's some minor polishing left to do on the glasses and the blouse. But for now my main concern is probably about not being able to capture the facial expression from the concept. She seems much more friendly on the sculpt and not at all stern. If y'all see something that I'm missing, your input would be gretly appreciated.
Cheers

Hopefully the downward eyelashes will do the trick.
@kanga Thanks man! At first I though I could go with normal earlobes that hang a little. But then I figured the whole earlobe thing kinda plays into the character
So the highpoly is a constant WIP
There's sort of desired expression going on, hopefully I'll be able to pull it closer when I start texturing
And I did the lowpoly. Gonna do the slick opacity transition in the hair roots and ends and add some flyaway cards on top of the main hair mass. For the same purpose, baked the eyebrows on the duplicated face polygons. Made her some cool parallax eyes following Pete Zoppi's tutorial. Need to make eyelashes too probably
It's probably the camera angle, but god knows, it's looking nothing like the concept -_-
Noodled around some more with the highres. Tweaked some face shapes and tried to rearrange hair so it's closer to the concept.
Subtle facial expressions are haaaaaaard!
Feeling a little better about this one. Feels like the expression is there and it could be pulled out further in color.
Gotta do some additional hair cards and I should probably start painting already.
Finished up the retopology and added some hair strands, eyeball shadow and eyelashes (which are barely visible for some reason)
Did some shader setup and lighting. On to the textures soon :]
This is looking a little better, I can't make peace with this hrd though. The overall lighting is dope but the rectangular eye glare is garbage -_-
