For the job, yes. Depending on the studio, they might have scripts or tools strictly for Max. I want to say there are studios out there that use mainly Max, like Gameloft, Funcom, Big Huge Games, etc. I never worked at those places, but took art tests for some of them a while back lol, and I even asked at times if I can use Maya. Some are okay with it, but in the end, they had to be sent over to them in Max.
