this is part of that artstation challenge, I spent last 2 days trying to work out a good technique to do what Im trying to do.
the top image is plates of lacquered Armour at the rear of a helmet. Im not worried about the laquer etc, im worried about the lacing which holds it all together.
I spent a few days already slowing getting the correct shape of the armour. however now I need to create lots of pieces of lace which fill the gaps between each piece of armour. Im trying to make is a high poly model and as nothing is perfectly alligned x,y,z its a nightmare to allign everything, and in a lot of areas each piece of lace mesh needs to be indidually created (as the underside is also visable).
I've tried using 'snap to faces; allign rotation with snapping target/project individual elements on the surface of other elements' but neither helped that much.
so ideally I'd like suggestions cause I have a feeling that my technqiue is too slow, or a waste of time.
