Is it somehow possible to keep notifications BUT deactivate notification for one certain topic?

I posted once in the What are you working on? 2018,
and since than i always get notifications for it, i mean it is okay but on the other site all other topic-notifications get not noticed by me because the 
What are you working on? 2018-Topic is very active.

In notification preferences I have everything ticked except "Notify me when people comment on discussions I've participated in."

Then I make sure to click Add To Favorites whenever I specifically want a notification.

It's not the greatest, but it works.

done that, but where are the "favorites" listed?

Big button at the top within each thread. Also you can click the Star icon next to each thread title in thread lists.

To see all your favorites, click the star icon at top right, next to your profile button.

This works great for now, thanks alot Eric,
really helpful to keep notification organized a little bit better!
