Hi all!
I have stumbled upon a problem which I hope someone could help me with.
I am working on a character in blender. I have already done some animations using the rigify armature and it works pretty well. It is my first time using rigify so it was a bit confusing but I think that I am starting to get the hang of it now.
Recently a problem occurred though, which is that some of the bones in my armature kind of hides themselves. It is the IK targets that disappears and also changes some of my animations. If I go in to pose mode and click alt+H they appear both there and their keyframes in the action editor appears. But as soon as a try to do anything with them, move them, clear transformation etc. they disappear again. they also disappear when I move the green line on the timeline, shifting between frames. They appear to be hiding themselves automatically no matter what I do.
This is really frustrating and I have no idea what the reason for this problem is. I would greatly appreciate help to solve this, Thank you!

Running a search on BA bumped into this thread with I think a similar issue:

Apparently bone layers are different to mesh layers (...BTW I'm not a animator by trade) and it seems by default under properties all the bones are set to hide, now to unhide switch to edit mode select a bone then in pose mode uncheck hide, repeat for all of them.
Thank you for your answer, it doesn't solve my problem though. I have tried unchecking that box but the bones just hides again every time. it kind of feels like a bug, but I hope that I have just accidentally done something so that I can just undo it.
I don't recall ever experiencing such a thing.
If you can, make a small example file w/ the problem. At the least there could be a valid bug report in there.
yeah, I have been thinking the same thing. I don't know how to do bug reports to blender though. I will try and make an example file to upload.
Here is the .blend file. The bones that disappears are selected but hidden because they become hidden when I save. alt + H should unhide them.
YES! that solved it, thank you!! I must've accidentally changed that value since an older backup file had the same problem but with only two of the bones. You have saved my day RN, thank you so much!
