This is an MP40 I worked on during this month. Really pushed me to get almost every detail as the real thing. Had a lot of fun working on this one and learned more stuff. I still think I could fix some stuff like the mirroring is showing in the magazine. Also, some people told me that metal looks maybe too shiny and the lights wash out some of the detail. Also, should I delete the fps views of the gun? Any critiques and feedback are welcome.
Looks awesome! I'd try to reduce the renders to 3 or 4 images. Maybe include 2 or so angles in one render? I'm not a fan of the FPS view, it doesn't really show anything off. I can't remember seeing any guns made of shiny metal like this, but I feel it adds character and is unique. Good job man!
Yeah, some people told me that too about the fps view. I should put fewer renders you are right. Also, the metal I agree is too shiny but I have tried lowering the roughness and it looks even worse so I just left it as is. Thanks man!!
Nice model! The textures could use some more attention in my opinion. I do think that the metal is too shiny and in some places it gets this almost white color:
I would suggest to take a look at stamped steel because that's the material a MP40 is made of. One great source for reference is the Forgotten Weapons YT channel, there is a video about MP40s. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cdQhO8FtY7c&t=641s
He has some good closeups where you can see the material pretty well just keep in mind that the light in the room he sits in is very orange.
