Our game development team is currently working on a dinosaur game for mobile platforms.
We require 27 textures "hand painted". All assets must be AAA Quality.
We need textures that make good use of highlights, mid tones and shadows in the hand painted style. All lighting / shadows must be painted into the texture as our game uses Unity's unlit texture. Each dinosaur requires 3 unique colour variations. These unique textures will be used for when the dinosaur evolves in the game. A basic HUE shift for the different variations will not suffice. The different evolutions must look distinctly different from each other.
Below is an example of the hand painted style we are using for our game.
However when doing the first evolution's textures, try to avoid making it desaturated. It can still be rich in colour but just using natural earthy colour tones like greens, creams and brown.
Textures must be provided in PNG format, 2048 x 2048 resolution. Along with the master file (Photoshop or Substance Painter etc.) *Ignore the 1024 x 1024 request on the art document and just focus on using 2048 x 2048.
We don't want the dinosaurs to look too realistic but rather stylised. At the same you should avoid making them too cartoony. The target audience is 13 - 18 year old young males.
So it should feel hardcore and gritty. Avoiding the PBR realistic look but rather aim fir a stylised feel instead.
A normal map and composite map should also be included.
The textures should read "look" great without normal amps, as some of the lower end phones will not be able to make use of the normal maps.
As mentioned about, please ignore the text on the side of the design doc as this information is now outdated. Feel free to work from the information provided above instead.
Each evolution includes some additional geometry like wings or horns. These need to be included in your textures.
The saddle will also need to be textured but this only need to be done once and will be re-purposed for all the dinos and evolution levels.
We work using milestones. If we are happy with the quality of work, we will then provide you with the next milestone to complete and so forth.
So the budget for the textures is $1350 USD (27 x completely unique textures + saddle texture).
