Need some feedback/critique on finishing a study.

Hi there, I'm having a bunch of issues trying to finish this study. Things I am aware that I have to finish are small details such as studs, holes in the armor, and the chainmail.
But my biggest issue is I am really unsure on what to do about the background, I feel like I don't want the crowd in the background, but I still need some more detail and I don't know how to make the grass & fir trees not take away from the focal point.
Feeling like I can't really finish any concept art without giving up 3/4 of the way through.
Appreciate any input, critique or feedback over on what I should be doing next because it's a hell of a headscratcher for me.

But I think the background is kind of saturated so my eye goes to the background first
de-saturating the background might help !
