Hey ya'll,
Good friend to the Polycount community and to many who've learned and grown here has been seriously injured, and could use all the medical expense help he can get at this time. And any prayers sent for him on his behalf
https://www.gofundme.com/krisleeshopeforrecovery https://www.artstation.com/krislee From the family, loved ones and Kris himself, we appreciate it. The love and support already given helps give us strength. From small to large, your support helps and we appreciate it. Thank you.
Christopher Lee Patterson (Kris Lee), a sculpture artist and army veteran, was hiking in Runyon Canyon in LA on September 14, 2018, where he suffered a tragic accident. He broke his neck (the C1 and C2 vertebrae). His spinal cord was not severed, but the break was devastating. He stopped breathing.
Two friends rushed to clear his airway and breathe for him, while an RN in the vicinity helped with CPR and to stabilize his neck. He was air-lifted to Cedars-Sinai where he had emergency surgery.
Chris remains in the ICU at Cedars. He is being cared for by a team of exceptional doctors, nurses and staff.
This sort of injury is often fatal but Kris was not ready to go just yet. He survived. Surprisingly, Christopher did not suffer any brain damage. However, he is currently paralyzed from the neck down and is unable to breathe on his own. He is currently on life support to help regulate his system and keep him stable. We have seen some improvement and the doctors are working towards weaning him off the support devices.
A little about Kris:
Kris' adult life began in the Army Reserves in which he served overseas in the war as a Scout. While in the Army, Kris also attended the Seattle Art Institute pursuing his art degree. Upon graduating, he kept working on his craft. Through hard work and determination Kris soon became a phenomenal artist and started to make a name for himself.
We are committed to helping Kris Lee recover so he can once again express himself artistically. We will encourage him to keep pressing on to fight his hardest and longest fight yet. This is just another battle we believe he will conquer.
Christopher’s recovery will not be without tremendous courage, intense medical treatment and long-term rehabilitation. He will need the help and generosity of others. He has only just begun the healing process and is still learning the lifelong effects of his spinal cord injury. Due to the expensive nature of the care he will require, we are asking those who want to make a positive impact on his life to please donate.
These funds will be used to help with ongoing medical costs, rehabilitation, long-term care and hopefully to transport him to a facility closer to his family. Funds may also be used for his every day needs and obligations to help get Christopher back to his normal life.
There is no such thing as a donation too small. Any donation is appreciated. From expertise, personal experiences and encouragment, all are welcomed and encouraged. All prayers are needed.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
God bless Christopher.
Sincerely,
His Family and Loved ones
I'll note from myself that I got to hang ambiently with him a bit when I was more active on Polycount Google Hangouts.
