Hi all!
This semester, I am taking an Environment Design course, and I want to share my journey and progress.
We have four projects, each at a different granularity of the environment design spectrum. Project 1 was completed last week, where we created 5 props to fit into a specific time period. Project 2 starts now, where we swap time periods with someone else and build an interior scene based off of their props. Project 3, we will swap again and create the exterior building based upon the interior scene. And for Project 4, we will swap one more time and build the surrounding landscape and environment that building exists in.
For Project 1, I got Agra, India, during the height of the Mughal Empire in 1630, just before construction of the Taj Mahal began. I created a small diorama, which you can see in the images below.

Here's a link to my Artstation post with more screenshots, a Marmoset viewer, and a deeper dive into the story:
https://www.artstation.com/artwork/PzxDrI would love feedback and critique on this diorama, specifically about what details are/aren't working. Just so I know what to focus on for future props.

Project 2 takes me to a Jazz Bar in Greenwich Village in NYC, 1953! Working on the blockout right now, so you can expect frequent updates from now on.

- books look new, carpet looks new
- use sss on the candle wax - look at ref
