Hi guys, for my latest portfolio project i wanted to experiment with a Sci-Fi setting so here we go.
The scene is based on a concept of Tyler Thull: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/OVQ66

ArtStation page: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/kA3rl

Some images:

You can find more images and wireframes here: http://https//www.artstation.com/artwork/kA3rl

I used Maya for modeling, Gaea for making the terrain, Substance Painter for texturing and final rendering done in Unreal Engine.
Props showcased in Marmoset Toolbag.
I also wanted to experiment with the capablities of dynamic lights so i went for a 80 % dynamic lights setup with the Directional Light and Skylight completely movable.

The city was made in Maya using the MASH toolkit to procedurally distribute and scale the buildings as well as the space ring that it is a simple ring with greebles scattered on it.
The terrain was made in Gaea.

Based on the concept this piece is supposed to be in orbit
currently it looks like its attached to the roof of the building
I think you need to add atmospherics like clouds and haze to fix the perspective mismatch.

Hi, thanks for the feedback, i originally wanted to add clouds visible above the mountains but with the skybox they always stay too high to see them so i only added the fog ( there are clouds in the scene because of the skybox but they are too high to see them ).
If you know a method to position the clouds in another section of the sky or to lower them, i would be grateful.

For the moment i modified the image a bit and added more fog to cover the ring:
