Hey guys! Happy to share with you the final result of my work on Artstation Wild West Challenge! It was fun experience for me, learned a lot of new thinks for me.

And a small breakdown of the scene

Process:

The main object of the scene - train, took about 3 weeks to make, and has 86k tris and 3x4k texture sets.

And the animation of the wheels

Textures are fully procedural, made in Substance Designer

Vegetations were made in new SpeedTree 8, like it a lot, especially new Anchor Point feature

Rocks, of course, sculpted in ZBrush, and for the mountain I used base from World Machine

Looks great!
I like the "timelapse" and how it shows the scene evolving, the placement of the campsite and tweaks to the railroad.

Impressive work! Great that you show a detailed breakdown and with the gif's is a good way to see the progression.

Amazing looking scene, thanks for sharing your workflow. The gifs are great too, although they lagged for the first 2 minutes. Not sure why. One question though, If you dont mind. Were those shrubs and bushes also made in speedtree?

@Krystian_Zem thanks! Yeah, all vegetation was made in Speedtree in the same workflow, as described in the article.

Hi there! I was jsut curious, which ref did u use for the train makin'? I already tried to do such pieces but can't really find clear blueprints of the bottom part every time..

@Olingova as the ref I used Sierra No. 3. I don't used any blueprints, just photo from google images, and youtube videos, like this.
