Edit: Even after enabling Mrgb I am unable to modify the mesh..
I am using dynamesh, but I'm unable to use a lot of the brushes (standard, clay buildup, etc) They are not affecting the model, and are not adding steps to the history. Only move seems to work. Does anyone know why this is happening and/or how to fix this? I've even restarted ZBrush but that did not help.
Whenever I get weird mesh behaviour, I click the "Make PolyMesh3D" button, which essentially duplicates the model with none of the historical baggage attached. If that doesn't get rid of the problem, the problem might be something other than the mesh itself.
Might not help with your problem, but it's always a step I use while troubleshooting, so I thought I'd mention it.
A 'polymesh' is just a standard polygon model defined by its vertex information. This is just a term to separate it from Primitive Meshes, which are parametric objects (shapes that are defined through math formulas, where you can change the parameters using sliders to change the result on the fly). There's nothing extra fancy about dynamesh model that would distinguish it; it's just a standard polymesh that happens to get retopologized every time you tell it to update.
If you cant affect the model there are two likely culprits:
1) The model is masked, even if it doesn't appear to be (masks can be hidden). Masks are saved with the tool, so this would persist even if you reset the program. The solution here is just to use the Tool: Masking menu to clear it.
2) The model was drawn onto the document with a z-intensity less than 100. Draw settings are saved with the project, so this would persist even if you reset the program. The solution here is to drop out of Edit mode and readjust the draw settings so that everything is on and set to 100.
