Hi. I want to share my latest work in Blender: Barret M82A1 sniper rifle with Leupold mark 4 scope. Rendered in blender with cycles. 1200-2500 samples. Renders on gtx960 took from 12 to 30min.
A bit more wear and tear would be nice but its a solid piece!
I have to politely disagree, though it is purely a matter of opinion on my part -- I'm not a hard surface guy.
I carried weapons in the military in all kinds of environments, and the typical "wear and tear" you see in game art tends to be absolutely unrealistic. People who use weapons take care of their weapons, they don't bash them around. Even if you drop a weapon repeatedly, scrape it against rock, etc, they just don't scuff up as much as is typically portrayed.
I get that people want to give a bit more character to their weapons, and certainly there is times when it's appropriate, but I feel that jusut applying typical weapon wear and tear by default isn't a good thing. So, for me, I like to see a nice clean, realistically portrayed weapon like this. Well done to OP.
Really nice renders. Only suggestion I can make is that it would be cool to get a sense of the size of the 50 cal rounds by perhaps having something else in the scene to measure them against. Like a hand, or a table with other stuff on it. I know that goes beyond the scope of the project, but I just thought it might look cool.
@BIGTIMEMASTER Hey. Thanks for sharing Your knowledge ;] Yes, that's nice idea, it's hard to tell how big it is. A item to compere size could be a coin, dollar bill or even smartphone, because everyone know the size of it. Thanks for inspiration !
