Otherworld Interactive is an indie VR content studio located in Los Angeles. We're looking for an Art Director to work on our next VR game: a horror game with a touch of dark comedy for high-end VR headsets.

“A puppet on every hand and a smile on every face!”

Job Description:
• Work with us to create and define a unique art style and maintain continuity of that
style throughout the game. The game will be highly narrative and the world, as a VR game, extremely important. We want someone interested in helping us create something unique and spooky and bringing it to life.

• Help us assemble and manage a small (~4 person, including yourself) art team. You'll need to help us figure out realistic timelines, manage art deliverables, and work directly with our engineers to make sure assets are imported and implemented correctly.

• Work hands on! We're a small team so you'll also be responsible for some aspect of creating art assets.

Requirements:
• One or more shipped 3D game titles, preferably including experience managing an art team

• Must have experience working with the Unity game engine

• Great communication abilities. We're looking for someone to not only manage our art team but also to work with our interdisciplinary group to make the narrative adventure work. Sometimes you'll need to come up with art-based solutions to narrative or engineering issues while at the same time maintaining the aesthetic of the world.

• Your core skillset can be anything from 3D environments, 3D characters/rigging/animation, or a solid generalist skillset (texturing, illustration, VFX, etc.). You should have a minimum of 3 years professional experience in this area.

• VR experience is not required, but is a big plus!

• Bonus points if you love puppets.

Contract is expected to begin in early September and will run for about 13 months. We’re looking for people local to Los Angeles who can work at our office at least 4 days out of the week.

Our current visual references include “Ether One “and “The Occupation” (White Paper Games), “We Happy Few”, and “Bioshock Infinite”. We’re looking to create a stylized world with a somewhat illustrated/painted look. The narrative will be fairly character heavy with a crew of cartoon-y but spooky characters.

If interested please email rtgray@otherworldinteractive.com and include a link to your portfolio when you contact us.
