It's a work in progress. I would appreciate honest criticism.
I Used Maya Studio's toon shader to create the cel shading effect. It was more difficult than I expected because the angle of the light had to be perfect.
My immediate feedback would be towards the mesh clipping through the clothes and certain scenes of stiff animation, but I suppose that's something that can be covered with more work and polish.
I think in more holistic terms, you should also consider the purpose of creating a 3 minute long animation for the sake of the effort you're putting into it and for the audience that has to sit down and watch it. The conversion of the original Another World intro into a higher fidelity intro isn't intrinsically useful/interesting; in fact, even if one were to perfect it to the point of solid animation and rendering, it would still be kind of destructive to the retro charm of the original scene. So if you want it to be more than just a homage or a technical practice piece (which is perfectly justifiable in it's own right), I would advise taking advantage of what Maya has to offer in terms of new techniques and tech, e.g. your substitution of the lighting effect at 2:40 could be a start, and reinterpreting the source material into something that is unique to you. Maybe that helps, hopefully.
