Hello all. I'm new here. I haven't ever made models by myself so I'm new at this.
For my BS final year project I'm thinking of making a 3d modelling tool that uses cloud services for teams to work together.
Teams would partition a model and assign each part to a different designer. Instead of one person working on a model multiple people would be able to work on a single model simultaneously. Designers would be able to make changes to parts assigned to them while viewing in real time all the alterations being made to the rest of the model.
Is this a good idea and something worth doing? If so how can I improve this idea?
Thank you very much for your precious time.

Many CAD packages take this sort of approach with multilayered referencing of objects and there's plenty of examples of scene composition software for rendering.
A studio I used to work at used the same idea within maya for level creation.
It's not a new idea by any stretch although Ive not encountered a genuinely realtime implementation.
I guess the big question for me is would you actually want realtime updates or would it be distracting?
