Like the title says, I'm trying to create a .pdf file with image in it, I'm converting a word document into a .pdf file, but it drastically compresses the images to unusable quality. Does anyone have any suggestions for how I can convert a word file into a .pdf and have the images look nice when I zoom in on them.
You can get more quality out of Word, but not much. The best solution for quality is to substitute the image in the PDF using Acrobat PRO or Standard, or any PDF editing software. Note: Your filesize will be huge. See attached file.
I tried that trick with do not compress, but in my case it had no affect and everything was still compressed. Can you recommend a free or cheap PDF editor where I can swap out the images and resave the document.
And the answer is use cute pdf writer, the problem appears to be that the various different pdf writers all have hard coded crappy aggressive compression settings. I tried 7 different plugins and the only one that good enough to use results was cute pdf, it's also free.
