Maya Grid Hides Geometry & Components

I haven't modeled for many years and I've got Maya LT and I'm having a hard time figuring out why the grid obscures my work.
It's not camera translation/clipping. I can still marquee select geometry and components when they're not visible. In the screenshot I used the front camera viewport to select all the geometry but you can see that only a small portion is visible.
Even in component selection vertices/edges/faces remain hidden and the only way I can select things is in the perspective viewport. (unless I want to hunt and peck in one of the orthos)
And there's no rhyme or reason to it. For this blockout the front viewport is the problem. In other projects it's the side. In other projects it's front/side/top.
It's maddening!

there's separate camera clipping values for each camera. Each view has it's own camera.

it's not camera translation or clipping. if it was clipping you wouldn't be able to select. That was the first thing I checked.

If you hide the grid, are you able to see your geometry then? What unit measurement are you in- default centimeters or...? Maya will do wAcKy ThInGs with very large scale models.

Not sure what else to suggest if those things are normal, just the obligatory delete maya prefs and try another video driver.

Switching off the Grid, the rest of the geometry is visible?
Try using the opposite camera view (in this case Back), you will be able to see, though, if I remember correctly, the only way to get this fixed is to reset the cameras to their default values.

yeah hiding the grid shows the geo.
Hiding the grid gave me the idea to just move the geo up and now everything shows. Thought about just working off center but then this-
I decided to try changing display render through openGL options as suggested and that didn't work but I noticed a setting "line width" under the display preferences. Changed that up in increments from the default of 1 until all my edges showed. I had to set it to 2 finally.
I'm using Maya LT if that makes a difference.
It's ugly as sin but it works and it's better than working off center.
    Thank you
