Hey friends! I'm having some FX issues in 3DS Max. I'm creating a cinematic revolving around vehicles with electric coils and thruster fire. I'm using a Glow Effect for both the materials. The thruster fire Glow material is turning out great but the Glow Effect for the electric coils leaves the effect wanting because there is no halo effect around the coils and overall leaves the coils looking dull. I placed a Glare Effect on the Camera Shader in the Render Settings which definitely gives the electric coils the "halo" effect and the pop I'm looking for, but it's glaring the entire model and the scene which ends up looking awful. I've tried rendering the coils separate from the rest of the vehicle model but it's painfully obvious they're rendered separately because there's no glow cast on any of the model that would come from the coils. Also in some of the shots the coils are being overlapped by parts of the vehicle model.
My question: is there a way to isolate the Glare Effect to only selected objects? I've tried using Material IDs for the coils material and Glare Effect but the renderer doesn't seem to recognize it. There has to be something I'm missing here. Please help!
