Hey there, been working on this guy recently and wanted some critiques on him. The concept revolved around a basilisk affected by it's own gaze, mutilating themselves in a cruel twist of fate. The things I think I've struggled with most are lighting, presentation (effects etc), and figuring out a good pose, I can't decide on a good camera angle either, although please give me advice on anything you think is lacking! I made a basic rig for him so I plan on animating a subtle idle animation to give him a bit more life. I created 2 different skins for him and I've also considered showcasing him with just emissives as I think it makes him quite striking (as seen in the images below), although still dubious.
