Is there an existing tool/script that allows for you to scale your UVs in 3ds max locally? I've searched a while back and again but couldn't seem to find one. It'd help a ton to have something like this (i'm using max 2011 btw).
If you mean scaling islands in the unwrap mod along a local axis of an island that's rotated then you can't. But I can't think of a situation where I would ever want to do that.
I essentially at times scale a couple UVs individually by element to make as much use of my uv space as possible, minimalizing the amount of padding i have but if there was a tool or shortcut to do this faster, that'd be great. I tried the UVW xform modifier though that just sizes the entire texture sheet but couldn't get it to do exactly what i wanted.
I guess what he meant was scaling each uv shell on local (center) position of each of them, without moving them from current location. Not sure there's a function for that yet for max as far as I know..
