Hey everyone! Going to be teaching myself substance painter with this model. I'll try to document it here. Still trying to wrap up UVs, but here's my progress on the model so far. Here is the original concept by Dylan Ekren:
I need to slow down. Think I'm just about done with the high poly for the body. Maybe more muscle definition? Going to noodle with clothes details next.
Man, you're absolutely capturing the Ekren style with the character already. I think one thing that you could do would be to maybe try pushing certain aspects of the silhouette to pump things up even further. Right now all of the shapes look like they're where they need to be, but it also feels like it's playing it "safe" if that makes sense?
I tried to do a paint-over and warp some of the proportions to show what I was mean:
I think she could be just a tiny bit taller, and have her jaw squared out a little bit more than it is right now. I tried shrinking her eyes a little bit to see if it might give her more of that tougher face (but that might just be my tastes). Dylan Ekren always makes really strong and meaningful curves in his ladies, and I barely touched what you already had going on with that. I only brought the hips out slightly and added more meat and angles into the arms, but that's about it. I might've over-exaggerated things more than they need to be, but I hope some of it is helpful.
She's looking really smooth and clean right now, and is coming along great! Keep up the awesome work, @Solid_Otter!
@dGreenberg Thanks for your feedback! Maybe I was being a bit of a chicken. haha I'm really digging the changes you made to her silhouette. Definitely going to add in more muscle definition and push shapes more.
Hey everyone! Here's another update. Feel like I need am actual animator to stress test the rig. haha Rigging is pretty much done besides the jacket. Just have to deal with skin weight issues on the clothing and add some corrective blendshapes. Look dev soon!
What a cute character! I love how her proportions look in 3D; very clean and with a nice silhouette. Great topology too. Looking forward to seeing texturing progress.
AMAZING WORK!! im loving all the progress and the character is looking better and better! her proportions are really sweet! you translated her really well into 3d^^
Long time, no post. Still in the process of moving, but I've still been working on this whenever I get a little free time. Finally got some render tests today
